Missing Japan? Come recharge your batteries at Iki de Veyrac with our Japanese floral workshops!

You can discover traditional Japanese floral art—called ikebana, or also Kado (the way of flowers)—with Master Yuko. This minimalist art, which appeared in Japan in the 8th century, invites you to create a floral arrangement with just a few stems. You will discover the true Japanese philosophy of patience, respect, and the search for harmony between man and nature. It is a true art of living with flowers and nature. More than quantity, it aims for quality by focusing on the search for balance in form, rhythm, and color. There are several schools of ikebana, each with its own philosophy. With Master Yuko, we invite you to learn Sogetsu-style ikebana, founded in 1927 by Teshigahara Sofu. Its basic principle is simple: "Ikebana reflects the person who created it."

You will be guided step by step to create a typical floral arrangement that is placed in the tokonomas (alcove) at home or in the entrance of hotels (ryokans).

Perhaps you would prefer to discover Japan through the eyes of a Frenchman? Then opt for the Franco-Japanese workshop where you will learn how to create a dialogue between oriental aesthetics and the art of Le Nôtre's gardens (yes, it is possible!), or how to create a France-Japan association through a unique floral arrangement! You will discover the cultural and philosophical principles that underlie the aesthetics and the relationship with nature of the Japanese, such as wabi-sabi, or iki, and which are also found in the gardens of the temples of Kyoto (tea gardens or gravel gardens - kare sensui). They will be put into dialogue with the French and European tradition of floral art, in line with the castle gardens designed by Le Nôtre.

You'll be accompanied and guided throughout. You'll create your own Japanese floral arrangement, as seen by a French artist, using flowers placed in a medium of your choice. You can take your creation home and beautify your living room.

Finally, if you miss Japan and the smell of forest humus, then choose the kokedama workshop! You will learn to create small balls of earth and moss where a plant nestles and grows, thanks to your good care. It is a true distillation of Japanese art and culture. Thus koke means "moss": insignificant to us, the Japanese appreciate its humble and resilient character as well as its imperfect side. A temple near Kyoto - Kokedara-ji - is thus renowned for its moss garden composed of more than 120 different varieties! Kokedama is also inspired by the art of bonsai but is much simpler to maintain. It will take you on a journey and invite you to new wanderings in the forest with a new perspective! You will then be able to select plants and the best moss to create your own kokedamas that will carry the memory of your escapades.
